March 1, 2021 – Notification of Covid-19

To: All Residents, Representatives, and Families:

We are providing a further COVID-19 update as we identify additional cases in either our residents or staff members.

On March 2, Palm Village was informed on February 27 that one direct care staff member tested positive for COVID-19 as part of our weekly response driven testing. The staff member has a mild cough and symptoms started after receiving test result. The staff member is currently self-isolating at home under guidance from county health officials.

From January 2020 to present, 27 residents (14 IL, 5 AL, and 8 HCC) and 81 staff have tested positive for COVID-19. Palm Village continues to work closely with Fresno health officials when a confirmed case is identified. Due to privacy requirements Palm Village cannot share further information about any of the individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19. All the cases that are resolved have recovered.

Palm Village would like to report that it has concluded the last of three COVID-19 vaccine clinics for both residents and staff. The first clinic was held on January 15 and the last clinic was on February 26. Palm Village partnered with Walgreens with the two-dose Pfizer vaccine administered by Walgreens pharmacists. Overall, participation was very good with very minimal to no side effects noted from those that received the vaccine.

Palm Village continues its weekly response driven testing for residents in our health care center and assisted living including our employees. Palm Village promotes a universal masking requirement, conducts at least daily symptom screenings for staff and residents, has staff dedicated to infection prevention and quality control, monitors visitation and entry into the building, applies precautionary measures to carefully limited communal activities, and provides continued training on infection prevention updates.

We appreciate your on-going support, and we continue to hold residents, their families, and staff in our prayers as we navigate through this pandemic.
